The Humane Society of Greater Miami is a limited admit, adoption guarantee facility dedicated to placing every dog and cat in our care into a loving home, and to promoting responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter programs. Adoption guarantee means that every animal that is admitted to our shelter is free from the threat of euthanasia for time, space, or treatable medical issues. We provide shelter, food, veterinary care, and plenty of TLC while the dogs and cats wait for their permanent home, no matter how long it takes.
We have been helping homeless animals in Miami-Dade County since 1936. We offer programs and services to educate, inform, and inspire people to take responsible care of their pets and treat animals with the kindness they deserve. With the support of people from across the county, we are helping to create a better community for all.
We are a private, not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) charitable animal welfare organization supported solely by our programs and services, as well as donations, private grants and fundraising events.
Feeding South Florida (FSF) is one of 202 food banks comprising the Feeding America network nationwide. We are the leading domestic hunger relief organization in South Florida, serving Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties through a network of nonprofit partner agencies, including soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, group homes, and other emergency food service programs.
Who we serve
Since 2010, we have seen an increase in the reliance on emergency food programs by almost 40%. Families and individuals who were once donors are now standing in line at soup kitchen and food pantries. Hunger does not discriminate. Those in need of food assistance include children, the working poor, older adults, veterans, physically and mentally disabled, and the homeless.
CARD, the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities is based at the University of Miami and Nova Southeastern University. We are one of seven state-funded, university-based outreach and support centers in Florida dedicated to optimizing the potential of people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and related disabilities. Over the past 20 years, CARD’s constituency has grown from 88 families in 1993 to over 7,500 families today in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties. Our mission is all about “You + I” and what we as families, friends and community partners can accomplish together to make our community a better, more inclusive place for people affected by autism and related disabilities.
